Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or date of birth typed into a search tool on this site goes straight to the third-party provider running that search. The provider processes the query and returns the results. Nothing you type into those tools is logged or stored here.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us is kept so we can reply. Your message stays inside our organization and is not shared outside it unless a legal obligation requires that step.
Data We Gather Automatically
Technical details arrive with every page request, the same way they do on almost any website:
- Timestamps for each page view
- Your device type and operating system
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which pages you opened and how long each one stayed on screen
- The browser name and version you are using
- The referring site, when one sent you here
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files stored on your device, and this site uses them to see how visitors move through the pages, including which pages draw the most traffic and where people leave. Analytics services help aggregate that traffic into reports. You can block cookies in your browser settings at any time, though some parts of the site may behave differently if you do.
What We Do With This Data
- Showing ads that may match your interests
- Routing your search requests to the correct partner service
- Keeping the site online and loading quickly
- Spotting technical problems and fixing them
- Learning which pages readers find useful and which need work
No Warrant Data on File
This site does not host, compile, maintain, or sell databases of warrants or personal warrant information. It publishes general guidance about where St. Mary's County records are held and how to check them through the courts, the Sheriff's Office, and the statewide case summary. The Maryland Public Information Act, General Provisions Article, Title 4, governs access to records held by state and local agencies, not records held by a private website. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and nothing collected from visitors is assembled into consumer reports or files about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Search boxes here are powered by outside companies. Whatever you enter into one of those tools is processed under that partner's privacy policy rather than this one. Those partners set their own retention and sharing practices, and we do not control them. Read the partner's policy before you submit a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links throughout this site lead to court pages, sheriff's office pages, state agencies, legal aid organizations, and third-party search tools. Following one takes you off this site, and the destination's privacy policy then governs your visit. Read it before sharing personal details.
Some advertising partners may track activity across sites to show targeted ads. That tracking runs on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information may reach:
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
- Ad networks that place ads on these pages
- Search partners that handle queries run from here
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
How We Protect Your Data
Standard security practices are used to protect what we collect, including access controls and routine maintenance. No internet-connected service can promise perfect safety, so we work to reduce risk without claiming it can be eliminated entirely.
Users Under 18
This site is written for adults. Personal information from anyone under 18 is not knowingly collected. If you believe a minor has sent us data, contact us and it will be deleted promptly.
Your Data Rights
Depending on where you live, state privacy and consumer-protection law may give you added rights over your personal information. Requests about official court or sheriff records follow a different path, because those records are held by government offices under Maryland law. For data held by this site, you can:
- Opt out of certain kinds of processing
- Ask for a copy of what is on file about you
- Request that your data be erased
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong
Updates to This Policy
This policy may change as the site changes. When it does, the revised version is posted here with a new effective date, and that date is the one that applies.
Effective date: September 15, 2026
